remember when the half blood prince had just come out and those guys put a massive sign that said ‘snape kills dumbledore’ above the motorway and it was the biggest news of the day and they got like legally charged
Since moving to America I’ve found that apparently very few Americans know all this. So I spent six hours designing a fancy photoset to explain it all. Naturally.
Fun fact: the Welsh language looks like a cat fell asleep on a keyboard.

Photo of the day: Newly hatched Cygnets usher in start of summer
A pair of recently hatched cygnets walk along the water’s edge at the Abbotsbury Swannery near Weymouth, England on May 11. The Benedictine Monks who maintained the Abbotsbury Swannery from 1000 AD up to the 1540s believed the first cygnet hatching of the spring, which usually occured between mid-May and late June, signaled the official start of summer.
DEAR FOLLOWERS IN THE UK
I know I’ve posted about this several times before, but a follower has brought it to my attention the seriousness of the Coalition for Equal Marriage campaign.
A mere (roughly) 51,500 have voted FOR equal marriage, in comparison to the huge 475,000 people who have voted against it.
As most of you already know, I’m from the UK myself. This one campaign could potentially change the rest of my life and the lives of millions of LGBTQ* people living here.
Even if you’re not from the UK, please please please reblog this to spread the word to people who are so they can sign it.
British Gay Marriage Commercial
Oh, this is lovely.
This is such a nicely done advert. I may have shed a tear or two…
British MPs say they will no-longer take interns from Christian Action Research and Education (CARE) which has supported ‘gay cure’ events
Two more British MPs have pledged to stop taking interns from a Christian organization which backs ‘gay cures’.
Christian Action Research and Education (CARE) have previously supported events which promote ‘curing’ homosexuality and ask if being gay ‘is real’. Its chief executive is a director of the Coalition for Marriage, the religious-based hate group attempting to block plans for fully-equal same-sex marriage in Britain.
But after campaigner Phillip Dawson released a list of 20 British Members of Parliament who have had interns funded by CARE, concerns were raised and apetition started, asking the MPs to drop their relationship with the organization.
So far the petition has gained over 9,000 signatures.
Two of the MPs are no longer in parliament. And already another two, David Lammy and Liz Kendall, who are both pro-gay, have severed their links to CARE. They say they didn’t realize the organizations’ homophobic views.
Now two more have also said they won’t take new interns from CARE.
Some people who keep up with current trans issues may know that an unknown trans man from the UK recently gave birth to a child biologically. It was reported in the Sunday Times newspaper after a journalist got hold of some information from the Beaumont Society.
If the man in question hasn’t stepped forward by now, then he probably doesn’t even want to be identified or talked to about this issue. However, this hasn’t stopped the press, and this anonymous man is now currently being subjected to a horrific, privacy-invading witch hunt by the UK tabloids.
The tabloids have reportedly been hounding trans organizations and high-profile trans people for information on the man’s identity and whereabouts.
The press claim that it is “in the public interest” that this man be identified to the wider public. However, it stands to reason that all they are probably looking for is a sensational story. This is evident by the fact that they obviously have no regard at all for this man’s right to privacy and anonymity.
The interim editor of the tabloid newspaper the Sun has also made some utterly deplorable comments, implying that the trans man should be exposed to the public because of “issues” with NHS funding of our treatment, the “welfare” of the child, and the fact that he could “turn out to be a serial killer”. No, REALLY. That’s the excuse they’re using for trying to force out a vulnerable person into the public eye and potentially putting them at serious risk of discrimination and violence.
What it amounts to is blatant prejudice, and the view that trans people are public property that have no right to their own privacy.
The Sun is acting disgustingly and hypocritically. Just last week, Helen Belcher ofTrans Media Watchwas invited to speak at theLeveson Inquiry into Press Standards, about the appalling way the press have treated transgender people. The Sun’s Managing Director spoke out in defense of the press, saying that they would endeavour to “mend their ways” when it comes to media coverage of transgender affairs. However, this seems now to be empty words and that the Sun has no intention of treating us any better than they did before.
Offering a cash reward to the public for the outing of a trans person is absolutely revolting, inexcusable and unacceptable.
If anyone living in the UK knows this man and is approached by a member of the media, or really ANYONE inquiring about the story (seeing as the tabloid media are known for using underhand tactics like hacking, stalking and undercover investigation) I urge you: TELL THEM NOTHING. Don’t say a word. You will be protecting a vulnerable person from potentially serious harm.
If you want more information, please readthis article, from Pink News, as it has exclusive comments from the Sun editor and information about the ongoing Leveson Inquiry into Press Standards. If you are from the UK, I also please urge you to contact the Leveson Inquiry and also thePress Complaints Commissionabout this. Their contact information can be found on both websites.
Thanks for reading and spread the word. This horrible violation of privacy must not stand.
I despise the UK tabloid press
What’s that? The Sun starting a witch-hunt?
Why am I not even surprised by this bullshit.

It’s way cool to see pictures like this and think, “I walked down that street.” Like, I don’t have to see this and wonder what it would be like to see Big Ben, because I already have.
And I’ve made Big Ben into my penis. So there’s another one off the bucket list.
